"Tree-nabbed"

div>

Last weekend, my parents and the kid came home with a very nice smelling but needle-shedding creature. It was the biggest tree I had ever seen. Rumor had it that they had gone out to a farm with their friends Matt and Jackie and their two kids, Luke and Giada to cut the beast down. However, when I listened closer...I learned they had indeed cut down a christmas tree but it never arrived at the front of the farm. It had been "tree-nabbed" while they were visiting the resident reindeer (yes a real one) and Santa Claus. So...in true Erin and Dave fashion, they packed up the kid after waiting 1.5 hrs in 30 degree temps, asked for their money back because of bad customer service and went to the local tree lot 1/2 a mile from their front door and purchased a pre-cut tree. Lesson-learned "Ohio-Tree-Nabbers".

My New Chair

Dear Santa Claus,
I would like you to know that I LOVE my new chair that appeared this past week. I heard the adults talking about how Santa was going to come to our house a little early because of a deal on free shipping and some trip to LA that is going to take place in a few weeks. My new chair that you dropped off is AWESOME!! I guess I am supposed to share it with the kid...but...I will figure out a way to make it mine...I already have given it a few "love bites" to make it my own. Don't tell Cambria that it was for me...she might be sad. Thanks again for my new LAZY-DOG...it is quite comfy.

Hangin' Up the Lights

Happy Holidays from oHIo!
It has been quite some time since my last post. It has been prime squirrel chasing season. Anyway, it is starting to get very cold outside, my least favorite time of year. In true "cold season" fashion, all of these plastic boxes came up from the basement and things that blink and sing appeared. My mom, Erin, spent one whole weekend with the little one hanging lights outside...yes...you heard it right...Erin and Cambria hung the lights on the outside of the house. I don't think Dad likes the cold just like me.

Halloween was all a "Buzz"

Holy Weenie Dogs---last week was Crrazzzy. We had Grammie Carol, Grammie Barbara, Auntie Nancy, Auntie Netta, Auntie Jen, Uncle Rich, Reyn, Rowan and Amelia staying with us for a few days to hang out for Halloween. It was a grand ole' time for this dog...lots of treats and lots of warm bodies to curl up with. The kid was on center stage for 5 whole days and she LOVED it! Her poor cousin Reyn learned how uncool it is to have a pesky little cousin. Anyway...you are all probably wondering...what was Cambria for Halloween. Well...a buzz, buzz, buzzing bumble bee...it fit her personality perfectly.

"Old MacDonald Had a Farm"

"Old MacDonald had a farm, ee-i-ee-i-oh". "Frank the weenie got left at home, ee-i-ee-i-oh". Ok...my singing is not that great but I am still not over the fact that Harley and I got left at home while the kid got to chase chickens at the Country Tree Lane Farm. Don't my parents realize that Harley and I are livestock. We would blend right in with the goats, sheep, horses, cows, etc. I guess the kid blended in quite well herself. With her no fear attitude, she gave a horse a kiss. I think it is because she and I have been practicing (wink, wink).

Apple of My Eye

Left at home again to be taunted by these giant red squirrels while Dave, Erin, and Cambria went and visited MacQueen's Apple Orchard outside of Toledo. They had a little festival (these Ohio people really like to party) where you can get a carriage ride, pick out a pumpkin, pick up a decade's supply of "apple butter" or do what they did...go pick some apples. The variety selected are called "Johnathans" and based on the dropping from the little kid, they are TASTEY. Almost as good as I imagine one of these irritating squirrels might taste...

NOODLES

Greetings Folks. I know, I know...I have been REALLY bad with all of my posting. I have been taking good care of my mom who just can't seem to fight so weird flu bug called "morning sickness". She is not just sick in the morning so I don't know exactly why it is called that. By the looks of my mom, I think they should call it "Morning, Noon and Night Sickness". Enough about Mom...you are probably wondering what the kid is up to. Well....all she does is eat...and eat some more....and eat some more. You know what this means for a weenie dog...yeap...I am WAY over WEIGHT. Check out Cambria enjoying her first plate of pasta. Her BaPa (Patrick) would be proud of what a pasta lover she is.

Greetings from Niagra

One thing a lot of folks don't know is that if you live in the midwest, you have to drive to your vacations. Forget jumping a quick plane ride. The "Ohio" thing to do is to take a road trip. So...my parents decided to join the midwest norm and drive to Toronto for a little R and R and some auto biz for Dave. While I was left at home, I heard that Dave got stuck in the most awesome thunderstorm he has ever seen and the family headed to Niagra Falls, again. You see, Erin and Grammie Barbara had taken the kid there back in April but Erin wanted to go again...hoping it wouldn't rain this time. Bingo...the only water coming from the sky was from the falls. Greetings from Niagra!

Baby in a Box

Can you believe that it is already September? I can't. It seems that life is just flying by. Last week Harley caught a rabbit, ate it and then got a little sick...nice, huh. Oh, but you probably don't really care what Harley is up to. I am sure you are wondering what is up with the kiddo. Well, she is extremely independent and into EVERYTHING. This is great for a dog, especially when she figures out how to get into the snack cabinet. Her favorite toy these days, well...there are two...a popper that she chases me around the house with...and....a wine box. Peek a BOO, baby in the box!

Who's Your Farmer?

Greetings from o-H-I-o.  Thought I would over pronounce the word "hi" since that is all the kid says these days.  We can not go anywhere without her trying to strike up a conversation with someone.  Anyway, I ask you..."Who's Your Farmer?".  Do you even know?  The the past few weeks we have been getting an enormous amount of fruits and veggies at our house because my mom (thanks to her pal Gayle) joined this new fangled thing called a "CSA" or Community Supported Agriculture.  The CSA joins the farmer with the customer to create a season of yummy food.  It is good for the consumer, good for the farmer and even better for the environment.  Do you know what a carrot that doesn't have to travel 100s of miles tastes like...well....let me tell you...pure heaven!  Get to know your farmer...you can find ours at www.sharedlegacyfarms.com .

Dear Squeaky Ball

You see, my squeaky ball is my pride and joy. When I can get my teeth around it (my parents put it away sometimes because it can get very annoying)  I squeak it all throughout the house. But...lately....I have found myself sharing my ball with baby Cambria. I do share but I am not exactly happy about it. When I get jealous, I try to steal her purple bumpy ball or red kick ball. However, I just can't open my mouth wide enough to get them in my teeth. My dear squeaky ball, please come back to me.

You've Got Mail

Greetings from Ohio.
The other day a package arrived from Grammie Barbara in California. Do you think there was ANYTHING in there for me? Of course not! I guess that I have lost my status as #1 Grand-Dog. Anyway, Grammie sent some silly outfits for the kid and a flashy card. Cambria loved the card so much, she was running around the house giving it kisses. Doesn't she know that sparkelly butterflies aren't real? Only Harley chases after sparkelly objects. Let's hope next time Grammie B tells me, "You've got Mail"....hint, hint!

A Zoo To Do- Take Two

Last weekend in Ohio was very FUN! Mom's best friend Kelly and her family came to visit for a few days. I got some quality "Kelly Time" and I was one happy dog. While they were here, everyone headed to mom's favorite Toledo haunt, the Toledo Zoo. Cambria and Andrew played in the stream, built a dam, ate the rocks (or at least tried) and sat in the water. They also climbed the bee hive and ran around the rain forest. We will just call it a Zoo-To-Do-Take-Two.

Bagel Baby

So, I don't know how many of you heard but I have to go on a diet. The vet here in Ohio thinks I am "a little heavy". He told my dad that I had to lay off of the treats and absolutely no people food. Well, how is that fair. The kid gets to eat whatever she wants and usually, I have whatever she decides she doesn't want. This weekend, instead of feeding the kid breakfast in her high-chair (where I can get her left-overs) my parents took a long walk up to the local bagel store and had breakfast there instead. I wish I could be a bagel baby...in mean....bagel weenie.

Here Fishee, Fishee

Greetings from Ohio. I know, I know...it has been a while since my last post. I have been quite busy. Remarkably, the summer has been really nice. We are having the coolest July since 1871. It was only 69 degrees today. In my spare time, I have been watching the kid grow like a weed and plotting how I am going to catch a koi fish from our back pond. Here fishee, fishee....here fishee, fishee....

Shakin' My Tale Feather

So...while Frank is busy chasing the local critters and birdies outside....I have taken over his blog. You see, he doesn't have time to keep up his weekly posts these days so I am helping him out.

Today, was Father's Day. I thought I would post a message to my papa with pictures of me shakin' my tale feather in the new dress my dad bought me for my b-day. You see, one of my FAVORITE things to do is dance around the living room with my daddy to cuban and reggae music. Happy Papa Day, Daddy.

Love,
Your #1 Tale Feather Shaker
